MISCELLANEOUS : ECHOED MOMENTS
-------------------------------------------
Star Wars, George Lucas has stated, is a story that at certain points is supposed to rhyme with other parts in the story: you can see parallels between Anakin's journey and Luke's, Padmé's as well as Leia's, and so on. The case also goes for smaller arcs - Luke and Leia's relationship has many points that echo similar moments from their parents' relationship, and even Padmé and Anakin's relationship on its own has moments that echo from one film to the next. For the time being, it is the last that this section will explore. [Eventually, I will update this section to include RotS.]
+++++++++++++++++++++++
Their first meeting, and their reunion in Episode II. In both cases, Anakin is instantly lovestruck by the beauty before him, delivering lines that the intended object of his affection finds adorably amusing - in a childlike sort of way.

In the midst of his darkest hours Padmé comes as a source of comfort and compassion, remaining with the lonely young boy and later the grief-and-guilt-stricken young man.

The set of images that inspired this section - looking at the Episode II image I was instantly reminded of the Episode I image. Both cases of them looking adorable together while riding the back of a beast of burden. ;)
_____________________________________
Anakin saves the day for his lady - winning a podrace, saving her from death at a nexu's claws. In both cases, Padmé eagerly displays her gratitude with a gesture of spontaneous affection to her champion.
______________________________________
The ending scenes of both existing prequels - in both cases a moment of celebration for our pair, in both cases also dressed in Jedi finery and beautiful white gowns. Both moments are stolen expressions of affection/love, coming about in complete and bittersweet ignorance of the sadness that lies in the future.
______________________________________
After a disturbing dream about the future (though in TPM, the dream is only included in the novelization), the first thing he sees the morning after is the angel with the soothing presence.
______________________________________
Not so much a parallel as a contrast - as a boy, Anakin without reservation grabs Padmé's hand and eagerly pulls her somewhere. As a grown man, that gesture of taking her hand has taken on a courtly reverence instead of eager pushiness. Anakin has grown up well in more ways than one. ;)
