episode i * episode ii * episode iii * episode vi * miscellaneous

Episode I: The Phantom Menace

Amidala: "I will not condone a course of action that will lead us to war."

Padmé: "Are you sure about this?  Trusting our fate to a boy we hardly know?"

Padmé: "You Jedi are far too reckless.  The Queen does not - "
Qui-Gon: "The Queen trusts my judgment, young handmaiden.  You should too."
Padmé: "You assume too much."

Amidala: "Our people are dying, Senator.  We must do something quickly to stop the Federation."

Amidala: "I will not defer.  I've come before you to resolve this attack on our sovereignty now!  I was not elected to watch my people suffer and die while you discuss this invasion in a committee!  If this body is not capable of action, I suggest new leadership is needed.  I move for a vote of no confidence in Chancellor Valorum's leadership."

Padmé: "Now, Viceroy.  We will discuss a new treaty."

Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Padmé: "I shouldn't have come back..."
Typho: "This vote is very important.  You did your duty.  Corde did hers."

Padmé: "I don't need more security, I need answers.  I want to know who's trying to kill me."

Obi-Wan: "She's a politician and they're not to be trusted."

Padmé: "Popular rule is not democracy, Ani.  It gives the people what they want, not what they need."

Padmé: "You're not all-powerful, Ani."

Padmé: "And I'm going to help Obi-Wan.  If you plan to protect me, you'll just have to come along."

 Episode III

Padmé: "What if the democracy we thought we were serving no longer exists, and the Republic has become the very evil we have been fighting to destroy?"

Padmé:  "So this is how liberty dies.  With thunderous applause."

Padmé: "Obi-Wan, there is still good in him.  I know... there is... still..."

Vader: "Where is Padmé?  Is she all right?  Is she safe?"
Sidious: "It seems in your anger... you killed her."
Vader: "I... I couldn't have.  She was alive, I felt it!" [descends to into rage, ripping apart the room around him]

Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

Luke: "Leia... do you remember your mother?  Your real mother?"
Leia: "Just a little bit.  She died when I was very young."
Luke: "What do you remember?"
Leia: "Just images, really.  Feelings."
Luke: "Tell me."
Leia: "She was... very beautiful.  Kind, but... sad.  Why are you asking me this?"
Luke: "I have no memory of my mother.  I never knew her."
