THE MOMENTS: THE CLONE WARS (2008)

Episode 1x22: Hostage Crisis

1) This weapon IS my life. Anakin is lounging in Padmé's office while she works. He suggests that since he's supposed to be on retreat anyway, they should go away together for a couple of weeks to spend some private time as husband and wife. Padmé insists she has work to do, but Anakin remains persistent, teasing her about whether her work is more important than how she feels about him. She says no, but reminds him they both have a duty to the Republic. Anakin tells her there's nothing more important to him than how he feels about her - and to prove it, he tries to give her his lightsaber - "his life." She teases him about how heavy it is, smiling coyly at him. Anakin insists it really is hers, at which Padmé becomes frustrated, thinking Anakin's not taking her seriously, and says he should go. Anakin says he's not making fun of her, and leans in for a kiss.

2) Quick, hide! Anakin and Padmé remain in each other's arms, kissing passionately. Suddenly they overhear Threepio outside with Bail Organa, and Anakin dives behind Padmé's desk just as they enter, Padmé hiding his lightsaber in her dress. Bail has come to collect Padmé for a crucial Senate vote, and she reluctantly leaves Anakin behind, meeting eyes with him over her desk as she leaves.

3) Skywalker?! While Cad Bane and his group surround Padmé and the other captured Senators, Anakin tries to sneak around from above. Anakin's position is given away when Bane spies Padmé's eyes moving toward him. Later, when Bane's group realizes Anakin is unarmed, Padmé is visibly stricken with guilt over still being in possession of the lightsaber, further endangering him.

4) Ani, please wake up... After Anakin is captured by Bane's henchmen, his unconscious body is tossed at the Senators' feet. Padmé kneels beside him, begging him to wake up. He slowly comes to consciousness. Not realizing they're in public, he smiles dazedly up at Padmé, asking why she looks so sad, and tries to reach up to touch her face; she halts him.

5) If only I had my lightsaber... Padmé helps Anakin to his feet, while he tries to think of a way to help them all escape. He grumbles about not having his lightsaber. Padmé suddenly presents it to him, claiming she found it when he "dropped it." He smiles gratefully as she uses the saber to slice his bindings, and hands it over to him. He then uses his saber to slice a hole in the floor under all the Senators, causing them all to fall to the level below just as Bane's bombs go off.

6) Another daring rescue. Anakin helps Padmé up from the dust of their narrow escape. Still aware they're in public, she smiles and compliments the Master Jedi on another daring rescue. He bows and replies almost seductively that he does his best, engaging in some not-quite-Hayden-worthy eye-sexing. ;)
