THE MOMENTS: THE CLONE WARS (2008)
------------------
The Film (Pilot):
1) "Anakin?!" Padmé's first scene in the movie. Arriving to discuss a security matter in Palpatine's office, Palpatine tells Padmé that Obi-Wan and Anakin are in danger on their current mission. Padmé's alarm and concern is solely for Anakin. Palpatine continues that Jabba believes Anakin has kidnapped his infant son. Padmé passionately exclaims that "the Jedi" would never do such a thing. She immediately decides to pursue negotations with the Hutts herself, and prove Anakin's innocence. Purely as a representative of the Senate, she hastily adds. Palpatine's expression as she hurries out hints that he no more believes that than the audience does.
----
2) My Undying... Gratitude. Near the very end of the film, Anakin and his Padawan, who have just returned Jabba's son, are about to be executed by Jabba anyway. At the last moment, Padmé's hologram appears, clarifying that it was Jabba's uncle (along with Dooku) behind the kidnapping plot all along - exonerating Anakin and Ahsoka - and convinces Jabba to allow the Republic to move their troops through Hutt space. Anakin visibly starts and his face softens at the sight of Padmé, and he watches her intently throughout her talk with Jabba. He expresses his "undying... gratitude" (heh) for the Senator's assistance, to which she somberly replies that she - and the Republic - are the ones who owe him. The words are professional, but the looks on both their faces - and the tone in their voices - barely contain their emotion at the sight of each other. (This scene has become unofficially known as the "eyesex" scene among me and my A/P shipper friends. ;))
