Season 1, Episode 22: Hostage Crisis

[Anakin and Padmé are in her Senate office. She is working at her desk.]
Anakin: "Hey, I'm supposed to be on a meditative retreat. We should go away together." [stands up and comes to stand by her desk] "I know a place far away from here where no one would recognize us... it'll actually be like we're husband and wife, instead of Senator and Jedi."
Padmé: "I - I can't, Ani."
Anakin: "What do you mean you can't?" [rolls eyes] "Oh, it's only two weeks. We'll be back before anyone even notices we're gone."
Padmé: "I have to bring this bill before the Senate. It's important."
Anakin: [teasingly] "Uh-huh... more important than the way you feel about me?"
Padmé: "Not more important... but important." [Anakin makes an exasperated face.] "The work I do - the work we both do - is in service to the Republic. To protect those who would otherwise be powerless to protect themselves."
Anakin: "Of course, but those are ideals. Isn't our love more important to you?"
Padmé: "But I - "
Anakin: "No, no but! To me, there's nothing more important than the way I feel about you. Nothing."
Padmé: "Anakin, don't be so -"
Anakin: "Oh, you don't believe me?"
Padmé: "I didn't say - "
Anakin: "I'll prove it. Just watch." [reaches for lightsaber] "When I finished constructing my lightsaber, Obi-Wan said to me, 'Anakin, this weapon is your life.' This weapon is my life."
Padmé: [raises hands defensively] "No, Anakin, I can't. A Jedi lightsaber is..." [Anakin takes her hand and places the hilt into it. She smiles coyly.] "Wow. It's heavier than I thought."
Anakin: "It's yours. Believe me now?"
Padmé: "If all you want to do is make fun of me... I think you should just go."
Anakin: [takes her shoulder] "That's not what I want." [strokes her cheek, cradles her face] "Not at all."
[He leans down and begins kissing her. Reciprocating, Padmé sets the lightsaber on her desk.]

[Amidst the captured Senators, Padmé kneels next to an unconscious Anakin, stroking his face.]
Padmé: "Please, Ani... wake up..."

[Slowly, Anakin comes to, and sees Padmé kneeling above him. He smiles tiredly.]
Anakin: "Hey... what are you looking so sad about?"
[He tries to reach out to her face, unaware they're in public; she gently grasps it, and smiles back at him.]

Anakin: "Too bad I don't have my lightsaber."
Padmé: [removes it from her robes] "You mean this? I found it where you dropped it."
[He smiles.]

[Anakin helps Padmé to her feet after saving the Senators from the explosion.]
Padmé: "Another daring rescue... Master Jedi."
Anakin: "I do my best..." [He bows.] "Senator."
