P/A QUOTES: THE CLONE WARS (2008)

------------------

Theatrical Film (Pilot)

-

[Padmé has arrived in Palpatine's office for a meeting. Palpatine has just conferred with Yoda on the increasing crisis involving Jabba's son.]

Padmé: "My security chief tells me there are several new battles in the Outer Rim."
Palpatine: "Including a small skirmish with Obi-Wan Kenobi and... Anakin."
Padmé (in barely hidden alarm): "Anakin? Is he in danger?"
Palpatine: "I'm afraid the Jedi's efforts to strike a secret treaty with the Hutts have gone terribly wrong. Jabba believes Anakin has abducted his infant son."
Padmé: "A Jedi would never do such a thing! Perhaps I can get that treaty signed. I will go to the Hutts and convince them of Anakin's innocence - as a representative of the Senate, of course."

--

[Padmé, via hologram, has just negotiated a Republic treaty with Jabba and cleared Anakin and the Jedi of guilt in Jabba's son's kidnapping, thereby saving Anakin and Ahsoka from execution. Anakin and Padmé look at each other, barely repressed emotion in their faces and voices.]

Anakin: "Senator, you have my undying... gratitude."
Padmé: "No, Master Skywalker... it is I, and the Republic, who owes you thanks."
[The two gaze at each other a long moment before Padmé's hologram vanishes.]
